Cabin proprietors, Raynita and Steve Carlson held their 11th Biker Bash the weekend of July 21 through the 23rd. It was a fund raiser for Packages From Home, a charity that delivers care packages to our deployed military. 100% of the Raffle went to Packages From Home. Kathleen Lewis is founder of this non-profit organization that packs and ships boxes of comfort items year-round to service members all over the world, and she is an Arizonan. It was a nice day as I spoke with Raynita about the events of the weekend. Vendors were setting up and the awesome stage and concrete dance floor had just been completed by her husband Steve. The monsoons were good to the riders this year for their Poker Run. The Poker Run was planned for 150 miles leaving from The Cabin to Show Low, Snow Flake, Concho, Holbrook, and returning by 3pm to draw their five cards. And of course our American Legion Post 86 presented the flag raising.
The Cabin provided a nice menu for sale of Burgers, Philly Cheese Steak, and Chicken Salad and other items. There was space for motor homes and campers to stay for a fee and space was filling up. The Mountain Motorcycle Association of Arizona (MMAA) were there volunteering service. Raynita organized a very generous table of upscale items for the Raffle and of course the Bike Games were in order with a lively audience cheering them on.
A good time was had by all. Appreciation to all those who donated items for the fund raiser. Thank you Raynita and Steve for all your hard work and planning and hope you continue this fun community event next year.
