The Heber Dairy Queen and Chevron was built in 1997 by Roger Owens and was later purchased by Boyd Clayton. In 2017 John and Julie Piva bought the businesses with the intent of remodeling them. On April 14, 2018, the Pivas will be celebrating their one-year anniversary as well as the grand reopening of their newly remodeled businesses.
It is always a pleasure sitting and chatting with Dairy Queen owners John and Julie Piva as they always have a friendly word and smile for their customers. They have newly remodeled the DQ interior and exterior including the Chevron side as well. As you have probably noticed the exterior has a new look including freshly painted front marquees. I especially like the large scale DQ Red Spoon front door handles!
As you open the doors you will see new tile, fresh paint, new furniture and arrangements providing additional seating and a wonderful open feel. A favorite customer feature is the large round booth in the back corner. It will seat a party of eight, and today it was graced with a vase of fresh wild flowers! The corner windows behind this booth show a winter photographic scene of “Look Out Point” by Payson and the long meandering State Highway 260 road heading west to Payson. Other art pieces selected by John and Julie are framed DQ tee-shirts depicting the history of DQ. The bathrooms are remodeled with baby changing stations in each bathroom. Best of all they committed to using local contractors. This is not just another Dairy Queen – this is our Heber Dairy Queen – remodeled with special touches by John and Julie. Anyone can readily see that their hearts are into community support in all ways.
You can look forward to the newly added service of your food being brought to your table once you have placed your order at the counter. New menu items have been added such as salads, and they are bringing back a number of popular favorites. The Pivas would like to express their appreciation for the community’s ideas and friendly support and feel they have achieved a newer look and better accommodations with a more modern facility and are proud to serve the Heber-Overgaard community. They tell me, “We are always looking for smiling faces to join the DQ team.”
The Grand Reopening is on April 14th from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. A ribbon cutting is planned by the Heber Overgaard Chamber of Commerce to start the party. Everyone is invited to stop by and enjoy a free ice cream cone and register for the many prize give-a-ways including D-Back tickets and a new TV. You could even order that yummy ice-cream cake for your next party while checking it out! See you there.
