If you’ve noticed changes at the Chevron/Dairy Queen lately it’s due to new ownership. Welcome John and Julie Piva who purchased the two businesses three months ago and have been busy making plans for improvement. This fall they’ll be remodeling the DQ with new flooring and new bathrooms! A story board posted in the DQ showing all the planned improvements is impressive! New fuel pumps were added shortly after they took possession as well as new signage for the DQ drive-thru. Check out the new customer selection of items at the Chevron like fresh donuts everyday! They’ve expanded their propane offerings and an ATM machine is coming soon! Keep in mind you can custom order your lunch at DQ, and yes, they honor Dairy Queen’s slogan; DQ blizzard upside down or the next one’s free! You can order ice-cream cakes 24 hours ahead and also custom order blizzards.
John and Julie were born and raised in rural Nebraska and prefer a small community. They lived in the Phoenix area 20 years ago and were looking for an opportunity to move back to Arizona. So, moving to Heber-Overgaard fit right into their plans. As they expressed to me “Living in the White Mountains is quite an adventure! We feel like we are on vacation every day…Everyone has been so welcoming and friendly.”
John spent 35 years with a major grocery chain in senior management roles while Julie’s passion has been education, especially elementary reading development.
Next time you need to fill-up (fuel or food) stop by and say hello. John and Julie are at the Chevron and Dairy Queen daily.
P.S. The DQ is looking to hire. Stop by to apply.
