Seems Heber-Overgaard enjoyed a fun weekend celebrating Independence Day even without a parade. Friday evening was a fun family celebration with the Mogollon Choir’s patriotic performance kicking off the weekend. Awesome job!
Many residents I spoke with enjoyed the slightly calmer atmosphere this year. The weather was perfect for enjoying outdoor activities like spending time with family and friends in Tall Timbers park listening to tunes by local musicians Siringo and Steve Tussey’s show on Sunday.
The fireworks were fabulous as usual. Thanks to the Parham family and company who put on the largest hand-lit fireworks show in the Arizona. Thanks to the Chamber volunteers who pulled it all off seemingly without a hitch.
Was so fun to visit with Bobby Stephens Hunt at Tin Pan Alley, author of Those Days are Gone Forever, a history of mid-century Heber-Overgaard. Bobby compiled her interviews from the old Pine Graphics newspaper into an interesting book detailing a lot of local history. Her book is available to purchase from Tin Pan Alley.
