It was a perfect day for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Tall Timbers Park today on Saturday March 31st. The Lions members with help from Jaeger’s Robotics Club members, colored 3,000 eggs the night before. The Easter Egg Hunt is only one of the many kind services the Ponderosa Lions provide for our community.
As I arrived the lines were already long with parents and their eager children patiently waiting for the “GO” sign to rush out and gather their eggs. There was a coloring contest for a boy and girl for each age group. The prize was a nicely wrapped Easter basket.
There is always much community help in the production of this fun event. Lions V.P., Donna Doss and her co-chair, Susan Jackson provided information on community help: The Sheriffs Auxiliary was here to help in all matters, Family Dollar, Dollar General and Overgaard Market provided the many bottles of water; Bar S Foods/Heber Country Store donated 500 hot dogs (offered free) along with hot chocolate and coffee; Steinhoff Distributors provided 400 hot dog buns at a discounted price, and Hickman Eggs donated 3,000 eggs. Heber-Overgaard Fire Department helped with park set up, SAV helped with the parking. This production requires much coordinating and work and when you talk to Lions V.P. Donna Doss and her co-chair, Susan Jackson you realize it is a work of love. As Donna Doss tells me, “This is the most community supported function we have.”
Thank you Overgaard Ponderosa Lion’s Club for the invaluable work you do on behalf of our community!
